Clery Center Campus Safety Impact Award

This award recognizes a program or initiative at an institution of higher education that demonstrates innovation, collaboration, and equity in enhancing campus safety. 

Applications will be reviewed by Clery Center staff and members of our National Advisory Council using the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated impact (e.g. reducing violence or harm, increasing access to or awareness of resources, enhancing feelings of safety, or improving safety-related policies or procedures)
  • Unique in conception or implementation
  • Alignment with Clery Center’s mission
  • Cross-campus and/or off-campus collaboration
  • Innovation in addressing community needs
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion 

Entries may be submitted by program/initiative leads or others familiar with it. Leads may be contacted to provide additional information. 

Please note:

  • Capital improvements are only eligible if part of a larger programmatic initiative.
  • Programs that have previously won the award are not eligible to win.
  • Finalist Programs are eligible after two years. Reapplications will be asked to describe program changes.

What does a strong application look like?

  • Implementation within the last five years (2020 or later)
  • Measurable outcomes or data
  • Testimonials or examples of impact
  • Supporting documentation (e.g. flyers, handouts, websites) 
  • Clear description of the problem(s) addressed

2026 Timeline:

  • February 25 – March 13: Application open for entries
  • March 13 – May 13: Applications reviewed
    September 10: The Clery Center Campus Safety Impact Award will be presented at the 2026 National Campus Safety Awareness Month Virtual Summit and the work of the recipients will be highlighted during the event
