Join Us: April 7 to Celebrate Clery Center’s 30th Anniversary

"Clery Center 30th Anniversary Gala" banner

As spring quickly approaches, we are busily preparing for our 30th Anniversary fundraising gala. We look forward to seeing many of our longtime supporters, members, partners, and new friends who share our vision of safer campuses. Join us on April 7 at Merion Cricket Club as we honor our co-founder, Connie Clery, and her legacy of work in remembrance of her daughter, Jeanne.

We will honor the 2017 recipients of the Jeanne Clery Award, Don Baldwin, Addie Mix, and Anne Seymour, at the event. The Jeanne Clery Award was established in 1994 to recognize individuals who do extraordinary things to advance campus safety, and for our 30th anniversary Clery Center chose recipients who especially epitomize our mission. We recognize Don Baldwin for his tireless work on passing the federal Jeanne Clery Act, Addie Mix for her dedication to empowering youth and unflagging work to pass federal campus safety legislation, and Anne Seymour for her lifetime of work and many achievements in the field of victim advocacy.

In addition to our Clery Award recipients, we will also hear special remarks from our keynote speaker, Sara Ganim, CNN correspondent, and Matt Rhule of Baylor University.

Ms. Ganim, based in Washington, DC, covers a wide range of stories and investigations on television and for CNN.com. She joined CNN in 2012 from The Patriot News in Harrisburg, where she broke the story of the grand jury investigation into sexual abuse of children by Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for the Penn State University football program. Her reporting of Sandusky’s crimes and the surrounding scandal garnered a Pulitzer Prize in 2012.

Matt Rhule is currently the head football coach at Baylor University and previously led the Temple University Owls in back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in the school’s history. Mr. Rhule has been a committed advocate in promoting safety on campus to his teams and worked with Clery Center and Men Can Stop Rape to arrange for comprehensive safety programming for athletics in August 2017.

As music from the Philadelphia String Quartet wafts through the ballroom, you can browse the many amazing items in our silent auction without even leaving your seat (or your home, for that matter, if you can’t make it to the event!), as everything will be available for mobile bidding. You can pre-register for the auction on our Gala website right now so you don’t waste a moment once the bidding starts. We’ll have vacation homes from coast to coast, event tickets, a special dinner with our founder and executive director, signed memorabilia, fun, themed baskets for a getaway to the beach or curling up at home with a good book, and more!
